bio
b. 1984 Montreal, Canada
Michelle Amor Lundqvist (she/they) is a second-generation Filipino/Swedish artist and a triple citizen of Canada, the United States, and Sweden. Raised in a working-class family in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Michelle grew up with an innate pull toward colour, form, and visual storytelling—an impulse that naturally evolved into a life devoted to art.
Michelle’s work is recognized for its subtle geometric lines, minimalist compositions, and luminous gradient colour fields. Balancing serenity and vitality, their abstract pieces carry a quiet spiritual resonance, echoing pathways carved by early abstract expressionists while remaining distinctly their own. In addition to their abstract practice, Michelle also creates playful, character-filled pet portraits that celebrate the joy and personality of beloved animal companions.
Lundqvist studied painting in Brussels at ERG St-Luc and earned a BFA from Concordia University in Montreal, followed by an MBA from California State University, Monterey Bay. Their work has been exhibited in Brussels, Philadelphia, and Montreal—including at Art Mûr—and is held in private collections such as Colart, T.D. Trust, and Loto-Québec.
Michelle Amor now lives and works in San Francisco, California.
